When you hear the words ‘love’ and ‘plane’ in the same sentence you immediately think of silly chavs, sneaking off to the toilet for a sly fumble in each others pants. All in the hope that they can join the thousands of other silly chavs, who claim to be apart of the ‘Mile High Club’. Well all that may change as a Scandinavian airline hopes to host the world’s first mile-high gay wedding, bringing a classier, new meaning to the Mile High Club.
SAS Scandinavian Airlines is running an online competition to find a pair of love struck queens to walk down the aisle (noting the exits on the way) and tie the knot while on a flight from Stockholm to New York on December 6th.
Pink News reported, the online competition which is named “Love is in the air” (see what they did there?) is accepting entries from couples wishing to celebrate their nuptials up in the air. What if you get cold feet while walking down the aisle? How do you leave your man at the altar? It’s a long flight to New York, with your devastated jilted other half next to you, crying into his shitty ‘roast chicken in a bag’ meal one minute and cursing you the next for all the plane to hear. I’m not sure they’ve thought this through????
The winners will receive return business class flights with SAS (Not the Special Air Services, that would be terrifying) to New York, with three nights’ stay in New York. The newly weds will then pop over to Los Angeles to for three nights’ accommodation at Hollywood’s Andaz Hotel.
SAS chief commercial officer Robin Kamark said: “SAS is the national airline of three of the world’s most liberal and progressive countries, especially when it comes to LGBT rights, so we feel this is a natural celebration of love.”
Ooh no, not for me! I’m a bit indecisive and would need to have an escape route available to me, just incase I change my mind! I think open spaces with options to runaway would be more me, maybe I’ll have my wedding in a field??
