Paul Heron began as a video Jockey in London where he caught the DJ bug and began practicing mixing records. He now travels the world, playing his funky sound in all the top clubs.
He describes his music as ‘dirty, sexy, fun,’ which is strange because people often use the same words to describe me!… But without the ‘sexy, fun’… and with additional words, such as ‘shitface’.
The London dwelling ‘Scot’ has worked alongside the likes of David Guetta, Frankie `Knuckles, David Guetta, Wally Lopez, Tom Stephan, Seamus Haji, Pete Tong, Judge Jules, DJ Paulette and Sonique. Ooooh, get him!
So join me now as we try to peel back the layers, like an onion but without the smell or tears, and find out just what’s going on inside Paul Herons head.
Where did your name come from?
My father and my mother… my grandfather etc… 
It’s just my real name. (Clever clogs!)
You also produce music, how’s that going?
I have done a bit of production work recently I remixed Empire of the sun for their debut album for EMI and I recently did a mix of the Scissor sisters Fire with fire of their current album. I did both mixes with DJ Alan X.
What is the most embarrassing thing to ever happen to you at a party?
There was a fault with one of the CDJ’s and the tracks kept sticking and skipping for about an hour until they could get it replaced… was ok until I had to try and mix then I just looked like an asshole who couldn’t DJ properly to about 1000 people! I literally just wanted the ground to swallow me up! I can laugh off most embarrassing things but not bad mixing!
Which other countries have you played in?
Have been very lucky and played nearly all over the world, have not done much in Asia yet but am working on it!
Have done Brazil, Australia, America, Canada, Russia, South Africa & all over Europe etc.
Which country has the sexiest guys?
It’s Lebanon, Israel, Brazil or Eastern Europe… but there are beautiful guys in every country! It’s just those places I mentioned seem to have a disproportionately high number!
What is the funniest/weirdest thing that ever happened at an event?
I was busy trying to concentrate on mixing and I could see this guy at the side of the box trying to get my attention… when I eventually went over he asked me if I could make an announcement to see if anyone had found his shoes… I looked down and sure enough he was just standing there in his socks… I often wonder if he was just taking this piss, but he really did look tragic enough to be believable!
Does size really matter? Or is it all about the motion of the ocean?Of course size matters… I get seasick if I’m not in a big boat!
Who would win in a fight? SuBo or JedWard?
Well I’m from Scotland so I have to say SUBO… and wouldn’t it be a joy to watch her beating those two senseless!
What was your first record you bought?
Whitney Houston- So Emotional & Five star- I cant wait another minute!
What’s your favourite tune of all time?
Danny Tenaglia ft Liz Torres- Turn me on its stunning and one of my most amazing memories of Ibiza is sitting on the rocks listening to this as the sun went down!
If you could erase a musician/artist from history who would it be and why?
Sue Pollard… she was fine as a mental actress but should never have been allowed in a recording studio!
When all the partying is over how do you like to chill out?
I love cooking, going to the cinema, I paint, listen to India Aria, swim or just hanging out with family and friends all those things relax me.
So how is the scene in your eyes at the moment?
I think the scene is quite healthy at the moment there is a real variety of clubs and events to cater to practically every taste!
What’s the worst date you have ever been on?
One where a guy told me at the start of the night he had anal warts… it was a bit of a passion killer!
Snog, Marry, Push off a cliff…. Boy George, Simon Cowell, Piers Morgan?
Well Boy George is really sweet and funny we worked together in NYC a few times but I don’t wanna snog or marry him…
I would definitely Simon Cowell and then divorce him and take him for every penny I could… so that just leaves pushing Piers Morgan off a cliff… perfect!
Where do you live?
I live in Borough in London; I love being close to borough food market its great at the weekends!
Are you a city boy? Or a small town girl?
I was a small town girl but I grew up into a city boy!
If you could live anywhere where would it be?
Probably Sydney if I could get my family to move too!
How big is your vinyl collection? What do you think of CDJ’s?
My vinyl collection is huge it takes up one room in my house… so I love CDJ’s as they have saved me space, back injury’s from carrying heavy records and a fortune as vinyl was so expensive!!! I always said I would never change from vinyl to CDs but I’m so glad I did!

What advice would you give to up and coming DJs/Promoters?
You have to be truly passionate about music and party’s otherwise don’t bother… if you think its a way of making a quick buck its not true, its hard work and you need to love it! If you are passionate about it, it will shine through in either your music or your events!
When was the 1st time you visited Ibiza? Was it to holiday or to play?
First time I went to Ibiza was when I was 16 with my friends and one of their parents we were no where near Ibiza town or San Antonio… but I certainly got a taste for the island!
If you had a time machine, what year would you go back to and why?
I would go back and hang out with Leonardo Da Vinci, what an interesting and inspirational man, plus apparently he was on trial for sodomy when he was 21… I always found that quite amusing!
