A long time ago in a galaxy far far away… Two homosexual storm troopers finally reach breaking point, after being forced to hide their relationship from their employers, the Galactic Empire… No, this isn’t the premise for ‘Episode 7’ of the Lucas’s sci-fi, shit-fest. He’s too busy frolicking triumphantly after successfully raping the originals with his big 3D penis. This is actually the synopsis of a new Spanish short film that premiered at this year’s Notodo Film Festival.
The short, called ‘LOVEWARS’ (see what they did there?), is set on the dreaded Death Star moments before the intergalactic version of Ricky Butcher, Luke ‘twat’ Skywalker, commits genocide along with his terrorist friends by blowing up the space station. As the two unrequited lovers gaze out of a porthole on-looking the chaos outside, they discuss the politics of it all which leads them to the age old gay argument: “Why are you so ashamed of being with me?” unlike the rest of us, the answer to this question isn’t: “Because your dog rough and I’m just killing time babes.” It’s of course down to the oppressive Empire and its apparent strict rules against dating and bumming your fellow Storm Trooper.
The director, Vicente Bonet, uses the Star Wars universe as a vehicle to comment on the civil unrest and treatment of gays in the Middle East and also the current developments in Europe.
The short film takes part in the 10th edition of this year’s Jameson Notodofilmfest, whose judges include directors Javier Fesser, Juan Carlos Fresnadillo and Jaume Balaguero.
It’s a cool little short and you can watch it here by clicking on the link below. However, If Episode 2: Attack of the Clones, is to be believed, weren’t all the storm troopers Clones of the same man? Perhaps the Empire has a problem with the incest side of things, rather than the homosexuality??
