The ‘Gay Cure’ Theory Causes Conflict Amongst Professors

cure for homosexuality

It would seem Lady Gaga has been wrong all along.  According to Professors in the US, we were most certainly  NOT born this way.  The two ‘Profs’ claim they have evidence proving sexual orientation can be changed. Well thanks a lot Gaga, you lying shit face. I’ve only just convinced my mum it wasn’t her fault!

Mark Yarhouse of Regent University and Stanton Jones at Wheaton College say that almost a quarter of the people they studied over six to seven years were able to become straight. Now correct me if I’m wrong but 25%   doesn’t sound too conclusive to me? Who would go out and buy Head and Shoulders if they bragged only 25% of their users were cured of dandruff?

Despite my own ‘hole poking’, others have contested the results too, saying that while behaviour may change, sexual orientation remains the same.

Yarhouse and Jones followed 98 patients who attended Exodus Ministries, which claims that “any individual can experience freedom [from homosexuality] through the support of caring individuals and the healing power of Jesus Christ”.  Well Christ wants to get a wriggle on. It’s estimated that 5% of the world’s population are gay. That works out at approximately 348,322,799 folk with ‘queer-itus’.

So excited by his wonderful cure for us poor tortured gays, Yarhouse appeared on CNN declaring to the world: “I’d like to see mental health organisations show greater respect for diversity for how a person chooses to live their life and live this out.” Err pot calling kettle black?

Eli Coleman, professor and director of Human Sexuality at the University of Minnesota Medical School, said: “We’ve been through this over and over. You can get behavioural changes, but that’s not orientation change. You can get short-term behavioural change. It’s not sustained.”

I can’t help but wonder, rather than trying to cure homosexuality, have these Professors and stuffy types actually tried to embrace it?  This research obviously stems from closet cases, desperate to find a miracle ‘cure’ that will quell their feelings for the same sex.  So I assume the guinea pigs for this research are just that, Closet cases.  Of course these people will claim they are cured. They are so desperate to change who they are, they will perceive any kind of change in behaviour as a sign of progress towards being straight.

I for one would never want to be cured of my homosexuality.  It’s brought me confidence, love and friendship… Plus (being a bottom) I would make a really shit straight man.
